Siti Fazlina Binti Abd Wahab, famously known as Iena Eliena through her blog, was born on 1s t April 1985. Born and brought-up in Batang Kali Selangor, she picked up an interest in writing when she was pursuing her job. She kickstarted her blogging career in 2009, and since then, there was no looking back for her. She believes in the power of words to change the world.
By giving her a voice in the form of writing, she ventured into blogging to end-up becoming a part-time lifestyle blogger. Her interesting blog now attracts a massive amount of devoted followers, who love to have regular glimpses into her life. Apart from working in a reputed company, she loves to station herself in the corners to string words about her journey and life.
Her blog is a true testament to her love for food, travel, beauty, and fashion. To attract more followers to her blog, she frequently takes to her social media to share cute selfies of herself. She is a rising star and is always a treat to our sore eyes.
WOM caught her in a candid conversation, and here’s what she told us:
WOM: What inspired you to become a blogger?
Iena: I was working in a company when I developed a sudden inclination towards blogging. I was inspired to try my hands at blogging when I saw my former employer pursuing blogging as a part-time profession. Apart from being a successful businesswoman, she was also a successful blogger. She used to pen down her life stories and put them out on her blog. With time, she meticulously managed to grow her blog and could even use that platform to expand the market for her products.
WOM: Describe your writing process, from concept to publishing. How do you stay motivated?
Iena: My writing style is more formal. This is so because Google finds it easier to understand a more formal tone than the casual market language or WeChat language that is not SEO (Search Engine Optimization) friendly. To run a successful blog, SEO rules should be adhered to.
WOM: What has been your most successful post?
Iena: My most viral post to date was when I shared my experiences of horror stories that I went through when I met with a road accident back then.
WOM: Do you ever experience blogging #fail moments, and what did you learn from that?
Iena: Highs and lows are an inevitable part of your journey towards your dreams. I, too, had my share of them. Around 2011, I was going through a rough patch in life, so I was less active on my blog. I firstly focused on putting my life in order and resumed active blogging in 2012.
WOM: Lastly, is there any personal message or advice that you would like to share with all the women out there in Malaysia?
Iena: Being a woman myself, I always endorse the concept of independence for every woman out there. Live your dreams and strive to achieve your best, even if you have a dependable companion. We live in a fast world where uncertainty is the only certainty of life. You never know what good or bad the next moment has in store for you. So, be an independent, fierce woman who can look at life right in the eye and say, “I know how to make it through”.
